Where is the Goldsmithing Guild?
The Goldsmiths Guild is Located in Ul’dah, and is Headed by Serendipity.
What do Goldsmiths craft?
Battlecraft Gear
[*]Thaumaturge (Black Mage) Arms
[*]Pugilist (Monk) Arms
[*]Disciple of War Accessories (Earring Necklace, Wrist, Ring)
[*]Disciple of Magic Accessories (Earring, Necklace, Wrist, Ring)
[*]Caster Spectacles (Head Gear) (Thaumaturge / Black Mage) (Conjurer / WhiteMage)
Tradecraft Gear
[*]Weavers Needle (Main Hand)
[*]Accessories (Earring, Necklace)
Fieldcraft Gear
[*]Accessories (Earring)
Components used by other crafting classes
[*]Ingots, Rings, Gemstones
What classes should be Goldsmiths?
Pugilists (Monk) and Thaumaturges (Black Mage) would be best for goldsmithing, but any class can and should get this when they can. The sheer amount of accessories you can craft make this useful for leveling any character, current or alt. (Not to mention the usefulness of Goldsmith skills, discussed below).
Again, every crafting class benefits / relies on other crafting classes for components, so it’s never truly useless to train Goldsmithing(or all crafting classes)
Goldsmith skills
Every Crafting (Disciple of Hand) class has 14 skills, 11 of which are common among all of them, while three are unique to each class. Below are the Goldsmithing only skills.
Goldsmithing Skills Discussion
Manipulation: An extremely powerful effect, with an extremely high cost. Masters Mend I restores 30 durability for 94 CP (1 for 3.13CP). Manipulation is more efficient at 1 for 3CP. While people may dislike that it restores it over time, this is actually a HUGE BONUS. This means you do not have to waste a step later on when you have other effects on (such as Innovation)
Flawless Synthesis: A strange skill. Increasing progress by a flat 50. It can easily one-shot lower level recipes… but why bother? I think the only times this will ever be useful is if “Standard Synthesis” (Also costs 15 CP) does less than 50 progress OR If using an elemental aligned brand yields less than 50 progress. Maybe against crafts with a high difficulty rating, paired with a long progress bar. I guess the usefulness of this skill depends on how good your gear is (Or how bad it is!)
Innovation: +30% control for five steps is exactly as good as it sounds. For 18CP, this is huge bang for your buck. If you only succeed basic touch three times, this skill already paid for itself, and more. With better touch skills, the benefits become astronomical.
Overall, Goldsmiths have great skills. Manipulation is great for a level 15 skill, and Innovation is a monstrous skill once you have good crafting gear.
