Where is the Alchemist Guild?
The Alchemists Guild is Located in Ul’dah, and is Headed by Severian. [City & Guild Locations]
What do alchemists craft?
Battlecraft Gear
[*]1h Conjurer / White Mage arms. (Wand)
[*]Arcanist arms. (Grimoire)
Fieldcraft Gear
[*]Alchemists do not seem to make any fieldcraft gear at the moment.
Consumables
[*]Potions, Ethers, Status curing consumables… etc…
Components used by other crafting classes
[*]Glues, Oils, Rubbers, Inks, Growth Formulas and others.
What classes should be Alchemists?
Arcanists (Summoner / Scholar) and Conjurers (White Mages) would benefit most from Alchemy (If you prefer 1hand weapons with CNJ). For everyone else, Consumables are pretty important and can be used by everyone. Alchemists also make alot of crafting components for other crafting classes.
Again, every crafting class benefits / relies on other crafting classes for components, so it’s never truly useless to train Alchemy (or all crafting classes)
Alchemist skills
Every Crafting (Disciple of Hand) class has 14 skills, 11 of which are common among all of them, while three are unique to each class. Below are the Alchemist only skills.
Alchemist Skill Discussion
Tricks of the Trade: Easily one of the best choices for crafting cross-class skills. This completely invalidates Observes primary purpose: Waiting out poor material conditions. Not only is this free (compared to Observe), you actually GAIN CP.
Brand of Water: Like any ‘brand’ skill, this is almost always better than any generic synthesis skill. As a cross-class skill, this of course depends on the element of the item you’re crafting. Use it if you the item you’re crafting is water element. (Determined by shard used?)
Comfort Zone: Another great skill, Comfort Zone is basically free CP. This nets you 42 CP over the course of 10 steps. You can’t really go wrong with this.
Overall, Alchemy has some of the best unique skills in comparison to other classes. Brands are always good to have. Tricks of the trade and comfort zone are, in my opinion, useful in any crafting attempt. Levelling up Alchemy just to get them is worth it.
